Rest in universe
I’ve been totally blown away with the response to the Stephen Hawking tribute painting I painted on Wednesday morning. I’m a massively into anything to do with the cosmos, as soon as I heard the news I starting picturing little images in my head, planets carrying Stephen Hawking away from earth and into the universe.. that kind of thing ! Trippy stuff !
It was a lot of fun to do the painting. I initially had no plans for it but due to the overwhelming response I’ve decided to auction the original and release a set of 100 limited edition prints.
100% of the profit from the original painting will be donated to Motor Neurone Disease Charity and 50% of the profit from print sales (after shipping/packaging/production costs) will be donated to the Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre’s fundraising campaign.
Supporting the MND charity is obviously directly related to Stephen Hawking as it’s the illness he suffered from. In terms of the second donation, Jodrell Bank is a place I loved to visit when I was growing up, the fundraising is to help support their educational work to inspire the scientists and engineers of the future and to develop the site further for the enjoyment of generations to come, I’m sure this is something that professor Hawking would have approved of. For more information on how exactly the money will be used visit this link – http://www.jodrellbank.net/about/our-vision/support-us/campaign/
